Beetle Mania

Enjoy the sounds of the BEATLES on The Frelinghuysen Arboretum's Great Lawn as the Robert Murdock Band plays your favorite Fab Four tunes.

Learn about the garden variety BEETLES at our outdoor inter-active science centers, featuring our own Fab Four: the Ladybug, Darkling, Asian Long-Horned and Dung Beetles.

Light refreshments will be sold, bring a picnic and lawn chairs or a blanket. Show your Membership card for a free lemonade!

Gingerbread in July

Join Barbara Amabile, gingerbread creator extraordinaire and winner of many People's Choice Awards at our Annual Gingerbread Wonderland. You may remember the piano or Santa's Desk or even the carousel. Barbara shares her tips and secrets for making stunning and edible works of art. Get inspired, get creative and get going, Gingerbread Wonderland will be here before you know it!

Don't miss this training session at the hands of one of our Gingerbread Greats! Wednesday, July 27th.


ButterflyDayhalf-page-thButterfly Day at Bamboo Brook

Have you visited Bamboo Brook yet? The North American Butterfly Association has chosen this historic garden for its outstanding native plantings and natural areas which attract and sustain many kinds of butterflies. Learn all about New Jersey butterflies from these experts, a digital slide show and a walk through this lovely garden. Wear appropriate shoes and clothing for an off trail experience.

FREE, no registration required although we suggest you arrive by 1:30 pm to reserve your place as space is limited. Saturday, July 30th.
