Bantry House

In May of 2013 the Friends travelled to Ireland to visit some of the most beautiful gardens in the southern part of the emerald isle. Join Judy Snow, past president of the Friends, for a reprise of that memorable trip.

Well-known public gardens like Powerscourt, Bantry House and the National Botanical Gardens will be featured, along with lesser known gems and a sample of private gardens. From castles and grand estates to cottages and ruins, and from towering Rhododendrons and South American trees to Mediterranean succulents and petite rock garden specimens, we'll sample them all.

The program is free for Members and only $10.00 for non-Members.

IN THE EGER FERN GARDEN - MAY 11, 2021

The Eger Fern Garden offers a small, quiet, peaceful oasis at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum.

Today's visit provided the following images: Osmunda cinnamomea (Cinnamon Fern), Geranium maculatum (Wild Geranium), Trillium spp, Symplocos paniculata (Sapphire-Berry) and the unurling fiddlehead of a Dryopteris wallichiana (Wallich's Wood Fern).

PANDEMIC SCHEDULE

Morris County Park Commission has reopened the Frelinghuysen, Willowwood and Bamboo Brook Arboreta 7 days a week, from 8am to dusk.

  • Parking is limited. Buildings remain closed. Portajohns are available.
  • Please protect yourselves and fellow visitors by social distancing and by wearing masks.
  • HUNTING IN THE PARKS - Be aware that deer hunting is permitted in many of the MCPC facilities, including the arboreta, during the fall and winter. The schedule and type (bow or firearm) is listed on the MCPC website here.
