WORDS OF CAUTION
With the heat dome descending upon New Jersey bringing temperatures into the high 90's and 100's, here's a bit of gardening advice:
- Water deeply so water gets down about 6" into the ground. Water in the early morning, before 10:00 AM, this will allow the plants to soak up water before the hot sun burns it away.
- Aim water directly at the soil, wet leaves can easily burn.
- Potted plants can dry out VERY fast; check them daily by sticking your finger in the soil and watering if they feel dry.
- Do not fertilize or prune during periods of extreme heat. Also, don't add any new plants, as this will be a huge shock that will stress them out.
- If you must be outside, remember to stay hydrated and seek areas of shade.
- Avoid vigorous activity at peak heat hours.

Cynthia Triolo presented a fun cooking demonstration on Sunday, June 28th; as usual the demonstration was followed by a tasting of what was prepared.
Attendee and Member Meri Tango, provided this photo of two of the delicious desserts, Mixed Berry Crumble and Spicy Gingerbread Cake.
