CHANTICLEER, A PLEASURE GARDEN
Put Friday, September 25 on your calendar and plan to join the Friends for a bus trip to this lovely garden in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
We're making arrangements for a 1-1/2 hour tour of the gardens as well as the first floor of the Rosengarten estate's main house. The gardens include many distinct areas, from the Teacup Garden, to the Ruin Garden, to Bell's Woodland, to the Pond Garden. Late September should be a perfect time to visit!
More information and registration for this trip will be available shortly. In the meantime, you can read about Chanticleer here:

THIS PROGRAM IS ELIGIBLE FOR 1.0 RUTGERS MASTER GARDENER CEU
Who doesn't love basil? Join the Friends as they host a basil tasting and pesto making demonstration on Saturday, August 29th.
The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Morris County are running a trial at several community gardens in our area of eight varieties of Genovese-style (pesto type) basil that have been bred to resist a devastating disease called Basil Downy Mildew. Vote for your favorite variety, see a pesto making demonstration and watch a 30-minute award-winning documentary called Fields of Devotion about the Rutgers basil breeding program.

AUGUST 8TH COOKING DEMONSTRATION AT THE ARBORETUM
Chef Paul Gatzke presented a cooking demonstration on Saturday, August 8th, which by all accounts was wonderful and a lot of fun. Among the dishes he prepared were curried apple walnut deviled eggs, fresh peach ice cream with grilled balsamic peaches and chilled Andalusian gazpacho. Lucky attendees were able to sample everything!
