The Friends of Frelinghuysen Arboretum are proud to host dozens of events in the coming weeks, ranging from exhibits to photo classes to tours to informative programs on gardens and horticulture.

Rain Barrel Workshop

This summer's record rainfall is one of many good reasons to register now to your own RAIN BARREL at our Build A Rain Barrel Workshop on Friday, September 23 from 7-9pm.


Trees and Shrubs for Fall Interest

Many tree have already started their autumn foliage display. Learn why on Thursday, September 22from 6:30-8pm or on Saturday, September 24 from 10am-11:30am. Horticulturalist Scott D'Agostino will build your fall interest tree and shrub vocabulary with some suggestions from our gardens.

Summer Serenade

September Serenade

Limited tickets are available for Sunday, September 18's September Serenade. What could be better than the combination of gardens, music and food? Enjoy Caribbean music with The Conroy Warren Ensemble, Brazilian music with Mauricio de Souza and Bossa Brasil®, Bluegrass and string band music with Silk City, Gypsy/Hot Jazz with Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo and Classical chamber music with The Dolce Trio.

Adding to the pleasures of the afternoon, the menu is tailored to the music and includes the following:

- Classical Chamber Music in the Marsh Meadow garden- accompanied by imported cheeses and crackers with fig preserves & white wine
- Brazilian Music on Sylvan Terrace - accompanied by a variety of empanadas & sangria
- Caribbean Music at the Scherer Garden Pavilion - accompanied by Jamaican jerk shrimp & Mohito mocktails
- Bluegrass on the Great Lawn - accompanied by BBQ pork ribs & Southern sweet tea
- Gypsy/Hot Jazz in the Cottage Garden -accompanied by olive tapanade and goat cheese on crusty bread & Proseco

Pressed Flower Art Workshop

September is around the corner -- if you have always wanted to try making a pressed flower project, we have a fabulous teacher here on Saturday, September 10.

Lizabeth Billingsley is an award-winning artist with a penchant for pressing! Bring a friend or your favorite youngster (ages 9+) along to our Pressed Flower Art Workshop for a special afternoon and go home with your own pressed flower design, ready for framing and showing off, and the knowledge and confidence to continue on.

Friends 40th Anniversary Party

The Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum's 40th Anniversary Party invitations are in the mail. Be on the lookout for yours. If you are not a member, visit the website for information about this very special evening on October 2.
