Was January a Prelude to Spring?

It sure seems so on this warm end-of-January day. But come what may in February we have lots of great events in the coming days.

Just as an aside, Spring is 7 weeks away (but who’s counting) and the USDA recently released its new Plant Hardiness Map. Go to to see the changes in New Jersey and beyond.

Philadelphia Flower Show

The Phildadelphia Flower Show’s website is up and there are some great talks scheduled for March 8th, the day of our bus trip there. When you need a rest, you can enjoy some of the free talks, such as Garden Magic: Big Ideas for Small Spaces, 10 Ways to Kill a Tree, Colorful Spring Containers and Natural Dying Using Common Plants. Then, it’s back to the show floor and shopping for that mandatory pussy willow! Your bus hosts, Sue and Steve George invite you to register now for this annual treat.

Blackburn Scholarship Tea

Landscape designer Andrea Filippone is the keynote speaker at this year’s Benjamin Blackburn Tea on Wednesday, March 28th. Proceeds from the tea support scholarships for students in the landscape technology program at The County College of Morris. Blackburn Scholarship Tea Chairwoman, Nicky l’Hommedieu, cares for every detail, assuring us a charming afternoon. This year’s event offers handsome garden antiques for sale, selected with Andrea’s expert eye for garden design. Seating is limited, so please register now.

In the mood for some arts and crafts?

Need an adult play date? Come along and Create Your Own Mosaic Trivet on Saturday, February 18th. Bring something personal to incorporate and really make it your own.

What a neat gift for a daughter or niece!

All About Ivy

Looking for a plant that does not whine? Pick ivy!

Learn about this durable and beautiful plant on February 12th. Registration is required and yes, plants will be sold

Ivy is easy to propagate, so bring a friend to the program and if each of you buys a cultivar or two, you will soon double your collection!

Thanks to Walkers Shortbread for their generous product donation to this year's Gingerbread Wonderland. Click on the image at right to go their website. Use the coupon code to save 20% for non-sale items in your orders.

We would also like to thank our long-time sponsor, Kings Super Markets, Inc. for their sponsorship of the People's Choice Awards.
