The Edible/Ornamental Garden

Calling all foodies! Learn how to bring edibles into your garden without compromising its beauty. Award winning garden writer Karen Bussolini’s talk on June 16 will inspire and convince you that vegetables have a place in the world of ornamental horticulture. Register online or by calling 973-326-7603.

Cell Phone Tours

Have you taken our cell phone tour yet? We have 2 this summer: the Medicinal Plants of the Civil War and the Story of Scent. The brochures for both of these are on our website -- just click the title, above. If you have a smart phone, you’ll be able to scan the qr code on the Story of Scent brochure and get a load of additional information, or just follow the links above for recipes and fact sheets. Come to the front desk to take the smelly belly jelly bean experiment or to get your custom aromatherapy walk card.

Iris Sale & Show

Iris have just about finished their regal display in our gardens. The Garden State Iris Society will be digging up rhizomes soon and their sale and show on July 21 offers hundreds of cultivars at very reasonable prices. If you are an iris fan or know someone who is, these make wonderful gifts! Mark your calendar for this free event!

Annual Meeting This Sunday

This Sunday is the Friend’s Annual Meeting. We’ll be honoring Peter H. B. Frelinghuysen, recognizing the Bartlett Tree Expert Company and its regional vice president, Wayne Dubin, applauding our 2 new Benjamin Blackburn Scholarship recipients, basking in the brilliance of author Ken Druse, enjoying the company of gardening friends and delicious catered refreshments. Registration is now closed.
