Gingerbread Tips & Techniques

Have you considered entering Gingerbread Wonderland? Now is the time to register for it. If you are planning to create and exhibit, you might want to also register for Gingerbread Tips and Techniques on Saturday, October 27.

Pumpkin Scented Soap

There is no pumpkin picking at the arboretum, but there is Pumpkin scented soap! Secret Garden Soap in Maidson, NJ makes a goat milk based soap that is mild and smells wonderful. In addition to Pumpkin, we have Evergreen and Burnt Sugar scented soaps for sale. They make an awfully nice hostess gift at Thanksgiving.

Shade Perennials

The Tri State Hosta Society has a great speaker Saturday October 27th at 1 – Leo Blanchette will be speaking about shade perennials and bringing some from his nursery, Blanchette Gardens, for sale. The talk is Free and open to the public.

Fall Cooking Classes

Both upcoming cooking classes are filling up – register soon if you are interested in attending. Staff sampled the Garlic Soup that Chef Cynthia plans to offer – it is delicious. She will be using a variety of garlic cultivars that were sold at the recent Simply Stinky class.

Garden Sprouts

Upcoming Sprouts classes include seasonal wonders such as Leaf us Alone and A is for Apple. It’s so nice to walk the grounds and admire the changing colors with your toddler.

The Friends Are Going to Ireland in 2013

And you are invited to join in on a wonderful tour of Irish gardens. Join us on Saturday October 20 for the Friends Trip to Ireland Preview where veteran traveler Sue Acheson will describe the tour and all the details, including itinerary, cost, accomodations, etc. The Preview is free, but we ask that you register in advance.

Want a head start? Read about the program on our Ireland2013 page.

If you decide to join in on the fun (and we hope you do), you can reserve a place with a deposit either by check or credit card at the Preview Program, or mail your check or use PayPal on our website. Read about it on the Ireland2013 pages.
