"Hope is the lesson Nature keeps teaching me."

"Hope is the lesson Nature keeps teaching me. She keeps producing. She recovers. She creates beauty out of loss. She forgives us our impatience and frustration and insistence that things turn out the way we planned. They don't. They turn out the way she planned. We need to be willing to sacrifice control to learn adaptation." Joan Gussow, from her book Growing, Older: A Chronicle of Death, Life, and Vegetables (links to Amazon).

Community Garden Conference

The Community Garden Conference is just a month away (Saturday, March 2nd).

Have you checked out keynote speaker, Dr. Joan Gussow, yet? You can learn more about her work here:

Come With Us to the Pennsylvania Flower Show

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has a new website:

This year's show is going to be spectacular, with a number of new features, including a New Plants Court. Wondering what the entrance will look like this year? It's a take on the gates at Buckingham Palace.

But, you need to see it in person - so come along with us on Thursday, March 7th! Register on-line on our Events page.

Matilda's Tea

Have you been watching "Downton Abby"? This past Sunday, the footman was practicing the Foxtrot with Daisy, the kitchen maid.

Matilda Frelinghuysen did the Foxtrot, and the Waltz too. The Annual Children's Tea "Waltzing Matilda" (Saturday, March 16th) includes dancing lessons, swanky foods, and period crafts. Read all about it and register on-line by going to our Events page.
