Friends Annual Meeting

Invitations to The Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum’s Annual Meeting are in the mail. Please respond on-line by clicking the image or by calling Margery Ennist at 973-326-7603 on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday.

Our speaker is John Danzer, speaking on the history of Garden Furniture, an appropriate topic for Father’s Day! John has just been recognized by the Horticultural Society of New York with a Lifetime Achievement Award and we are thrilled that he is our guest speaker.

This Sunday June 15th program, replete with wine and cheese is FREE, but you must be a Member to attend.

Beatrix Potter’s Gardening Life

Author, garden consultant and fellow Friend, Marta McDowell, will be speaking about her newest book, “Beatrix Potter’s Gardening Life” on Sunday, June 22.

Did you know that the book character Peter Rabbit was based on one of Ms. Potter’s pet rabbits? Her pet was a Belgian Buck Rabbit purchased in Oxbridge Road, London for 4 pounds, 6 pence.

Fairy Day

Building lots for Fairy Day on June 29 are going fast. If you are planning to build a house for the Frelinghuysen Fairies, swipe your wand and register on-line by clicking the image below.

Biblical Botany Walking Tour

Also on June 29, Dr. Jon Greenberg will be leading the “Biblical Botany Walking Tour.” Prepare to be amazed at his depth of knowledge in both the area of botany and the Old Testament.

Jon lectures at botanic gardens across America, and it’s a special treat to have him tour our grounds. Click on the title to register on-line.

Great Swamp Bonsai Society Open House

Sunday, June 1 is the Great Swamp Bonsai Society Open House from 9am-4pm. Their display of bonsai and accompanying educational materials is fascinating.

Bring a child to see these “miniature trees” and perhaps start a lifetime hobby.

FREE and no registration is required.

Matilda's Café

Matilda’s Cafe is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October from 10am -5pm. Call 973-394-1100 for the menu and to reserve a nice box lunch!
