If you have school age children, you know about teacher conference days.
We have a day long program for 4th and 5th graders that will keep them busy and engaged – arTboretum Mini-Camp on Thursday November 5. They’ll make a bonsai, a bog garden, a Victorian fern planting and a kokedama, which is a special Japanese form of hanging plant.
What fun! All the kids have to bring is a bagged lunch – no peanuts please.

September 2015: Volunteer Coordinator
The Morris County Park Commission’s Horticultural Education Department is seeking an energetic, “people-person” for the position of Volunteer Coordinator.
This is part time job – 21 hours per week. The ability to work weekends and evenings is required. A demonstrable interest in horticulture is required.
Computer literacy is required, including the use of Excel. Volunteer management experience is a plus.

August 2015: Senior Gardener - Willowwood Arboretum
Employees in this position are responsible for the supervision and monitoring of subordinate staff, seasonal, intern and volunteer staff, as well as the hands-on maintenance of the gardens and plant collections at the Willowwood Arboretum, a facility of the Morris County Park Commission, located in Chester Township, NJ. Individuals should have a strong understanding of horticulture, possess the skills necessary to perform horticultural maintenance tasks, and be familiar with the identification and cultivation of a wide variety of woody, herbaceous, and annual landscape plants. The Senior Gardener reports to and works under the general supervision of the Manager of Horticulture and/or his/her designee for the coordination of daily activities, attendance and other operational procedures.
