Benjamin Blackburn Scholarship Lecture

The Friends give a scholarship every year to a student of horticulture. Benjamin Blackburn Scholarship Chair, Betsy Martone, invites you to attend this year’s lecture which will be held on Saturday, Febrary 13.

“By presenting this talk on a Saturday, we hope to encourage members who work weekdays to attend, “ Betsy said. Award-winning author and arborist, William Bryant Logan, will talk about his latest book “Oaks: The Frame of Civilization.” Oaks and humans have a long and extraordinary relationship and Bill’s talk will appeal to plant lovers, anthropology buffs and history geeks alike. Proceeds directly fund the scholarship.

Kids can learn about America’’s “First Farmers,” on February 15 at Planting with the Presidents. Did you know that Thomas Jefferson would often spend the modern day equivalent of $1000 on a meal… for a party of four!
