Fall Activities in Full Swing

The next few weeks are jam-packed with programs and events at the Arboretum. Here are a few items of note, but be sure to check out the full list on our Events Page:

Hats Off to Miss Matilda

Every year the Friends sponsors a mother-daughter tea like the ones Miss Matilda Frelinghuysen may have attended as a child. This year's is early in 2010 and is entitled, "Hats off to Miss Matilda." We will post lots more information on the website as the time gets nearer.

Our Marge Hulstrunck, who many of you know from the exciting flower arranging programs at the Arboretum, is in charge of the centerpieces for the tables. She has written, asking for your help:

What's in Bloom Updates

Our long-time volunteer, Phil Dahlen, sent in his last What's in Bloom update of the year. Thanks, Phil, for these regular snapshots of the Arboretum's flowering activity.

The next few weeks should be especially beautiful at the Frelinghuysen as nature buttons up its blossoms and cloaks itself with the red and yellow hues of fall. We look forward to seeing you here.

Fall Colors Building

Early Fall ColorsNature is preparing for its spectacular fall display. Late blossoms, ripening grasses and building reds in the leaves are all in evidence at the Arboretum. Enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts and come see the daily changes as the plants prepare for their winter's sleep. Click on the image for more pictures.

What's in Bloom Update

Phil Dahlen, our What's in Bloom volunteer writes, "One of my favorite gardens, The Cottage Perennial Garden, is still beautiful with so many dramatic, colorful plants in bloom even now at the end of summer." Along with that, he sent the latest update of the What's in Bloom list. Use it as a guide to the floral splendor this week at the Arboretum.
