This is part of Troop 97452's submission of "Save Our Arctic Animal Habitats, & focuses on the Arctic Fox. The Fox’s main food source lemmings (small brown animal) population is being reduced because of global warming which is negatively impacting the fox population. Global warming is reducing the snow cover which is how the fox camouflages. The entry is made out of rice crispy treats, frosting & sugar. It depicts 3 white Arctic foxes, 1 eating a lemming and grass coming through the reduced snow

I usually do projects about far-away places. During Covid, I stayed local. As an Assistant Coach for Mendham Magic Cross Country, I'd meet our athletes at the Mendham Mudhole for training. I saw the mudhole change through the seasons. It was beautiful with Fall colors. It inspired me to make this project. I admire the Impressionists' way of using colors and brushstrokes. So I applied the styles of Van Gogh, Monet and Seurat to my beloved mudhole, using royal icing, food paint, frosting, etc.

Grab your box of Cracker Jacks, sit back and relax in the bleachers and make memories as you watch the Yankees win! This gingerbread house is a mini replica of Yankee Stadium. As I was making it, I thought of the fun afternoons spent in the Bronx, catching baseballs during batting practice, feeling the warm breeze as subway rumbled below, eating hotdogs and ice cream with blue and white sprinkles, and cheering as the Yankees won!

Jump into a fun summer at Fayson Lakes where you can grab a gyro or ice cream from “The Cave” and enjoy it in the perfect picnic area. Next head over to the bleachers and swim a few laps in the swim lanes but watch out for “Big Ben” the humongous snapping turtle. After that grab a pair of goggles from “The Shack” where the lifeguards hang out and plan fun activities. Swim out to the dock and play some water games. Head up to the clubhouse for a pizza party at the end of the day!

Hard to believe it was only a few months ago temperatures were "ice-cream-melting."

Hummingbirds and butterflies are printed on edible gel-paper. (Esty cupcake toppers.) I've always wanted to make a gingerbread butterfly house - and this year I could! It hangs from a string which I removed from the photos. Hummingbird eggs are malted milk on a gummy apple ring. The bushes are topped with dyed Ramen noodles, candy melts and sprinkles. My treasure chest was inspired by our pirate ship from 2014. It has antique treasures, Christmas décor plus some items considered treasures in 2020! Our bear is there too - social distancing on the beach! The chest is 16"w x 8"d x 14"h, made from gingerbread imprinted with a wood grain look and stained with brown food coloring. The metal straps, treasures (except chocolate coins), sea shells, and critters are made from fondant, while the jewels are melted Jolly Ranchers. The sand is brown sugar.
