What can a gardener do during this very snowy winter but dream

Join us for an entry from this time last year....

What can a gardener do during this very snowy winter but dream? Dream of the latest offerings in the catalogs, that one area in the garden that needs tweaking, how to turn the patio or balcony into a tropical jungle. I long for the blossoms of hellebores hidden under the snow, the cheery flowers of witch hazels against the pure white snow, the first snowdrops. I dream of flowers and fragrance, birds and butterflies. The Friends Plant Sale Committee is doing more than dreaming, we are busy researching and ordering the newest stars in the plant world -- trees and shrubs with multiple season interest, perennials bold and new as well as tried and true, annuals and tropicals in every shade and hue and herbs for your culinary enjoyment.

We hope you will visit this site often and watch our plant list grow. This list contains all the information you need to start planning that new project: bloom time, color, height, sun/shade requirements, etc. When you come to our sale you will find the plants arranged so that you can find just what you need whether perennials for shade, a multi-season tree or some herbs for cooking. There will also be plant advisors to help you with your selections.

We will soon begin featuring articles and pictures about the many plants we will have at the sale. Be on the lookout for an article about some of the colorful annuals that will fill your gardens or containers with blooms from summer until first frost. If you are looking for native plants for your garden, you can learn about them here. Need to find something for that shady corner? We’ll show you lots of options. You can still enjoy our articles and videos from the past years by clicking here.

Our site will be growing and changing weekly so visit often. Oh, and mark your calendars for our sale on Saturday May 7th from 9:00am to 3:00pm in the Big Tent at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum. If you are a member of the Friends, plan on joining us for the Members Only Party on Friday May 6th from 4:00-7:00pm where you can shop and enjoy a light supper. Not a member? You can become one on-line by going to our Membership Page.

We look forward to seeing you at the sale and helping make your winter daydreaming a reality.
