We know people’s schedules are busy, so walk-ins to the speaker programs are welcome. However, early registration will guarantee you a seat and will help us plan.


EXTENDING THE VEGETABLE SEASON

Sunday, August 11

Learn how to increase your garden harvest by extending the growing season through the Fall and Winter. Over the past seven years, Matt Mayernik has been able to harvest kale, carrots, parsnips, beets, greens and other plants well into November and sometimes as late as December. Learn about the techniques he implemented and what plants he has found to be the most successful.

The class will include a recommended schedule for seedling germination in the summer to prepare for the Fall. Matt will share his experience of how his homemade greenhouse changed his methodology and provide some insights on how hoop tunnels can be used to increase late season harvests.

This program is eligible for 1.5 Rutgers Master Gardener CEU’s.

COOKING DEMONSTRATION: PRESERVING YOUR HARVEST

Learn some great small batch preserving recipes for pickles, jams, relishes and more with Chef Cynthia Triolo. The bounty of the summer and fall harvest can be yours all winter long!
