THE JOY OF BACKYARD BIRD FEEDING AND WATCHING

VIRTUAL ZOOM PROGRAM

Jim Walker, owner of the Wild Birds Unlimited store in Denville, New Jersey, will provide our audience with the necessary information to make the hobby of bird feeding more enjoyable.

Topics will include the best food to offer to attract the widest variety of birds, the different types of feeders available, why water and nesting boxes are so important, as well as ways to thwart those pesky squirrels.

Jim will also pay special attention to nesting, migrating birds and hummingbirds.

Join Dr. Randi Eckel of Toadshade Wildflower Farm in Frenchtown, New Jersey, as she helps sort it out and discuss some management strategies that may help you strike the right balance.

The Plant Sale is ongoing through Tuesday, April 27

Thank you to all who have supported the Friends by shopping at our virtual Plant Sale. We still have a great selection of plants available, so you can continue to indulge in plant fever right up until pick-up days.

There is still time to order a spring-blooming tree or conifer for Arbor Day on March 30, for Mother's Day on May 9 or for a special graduate on your list.

Please note that shortly after you place your order, you will receive an email from plantsale@arboretumfriends.net to book a pick-up time on either April 30 or May 1. The email will be sent to the email on your PayPal/credit card receipt.

SCHEDULE ANNOUNCEMENTS

PANDEMIC SCHEDULE

Morris County Park Commission has reopened the Frelinghuysen, Willowwood and Bamboo Brook Arboreta 7 days a week, from 8am to dusk.

• Parking is limited. Buildings remain closed. Portajohns are available.
• Please protect yourselves and fellow visitors by social distancing and by wearing masks.
• HUNTING IN THE PARKS - Be aware that deer hunting is permitted in many of the MCPC facilities, including the arboreta, during the fall and winter. The schedule and type (bow or firearm) is listed on the MCPC website here.
