Cooking Demonstration: Revolutionary Desserts with Chef Cynthia Triolo

Sunday 06-28-26 01:00 pm (Eastern)

Location: Haggerty Education Center

Let’s explore some desserts that were popular during the founding of our country.

The following recipes have been adapted from cookbooks in the Morris County Park Commission’s Elizabeth D. Kay Rare Book library, spanning the 18th and 19th centuries. The recipes have been updated for today’s cooks and utensils, but the flavors have been kept intact:

  • Spicy Gingerbread Cake
  • Mixed Berry Slump
  • Cornmeal Cake made with Mt. Vernon cornmeal, served with Strawberries
  • Pear Custard

What a perfect way to celebrate our 250th birthday!
